Sansbury lines in Maryland

A good deal of my guidance on my family line is from research done by family members going all the way back to the 1930s.   In those days that meant physically visiting the archives but also they relied on family bibles which I would assume to be as reliable as any other documents we might rely on.

In the monogram they produced it's mentioned there are three Sansbury branches in Maryland:  the Calvert County branch, Charles County, and Prince George, "but they all apparently descended from one named Richard" (meaning the Richard they identified as the one arriving on the Crowne Malaga in 1680).

The problem with that research from the 1930s is they concluded that Thomas, owner of several tracts of land (collectively known as Sansberrie Farms) was the son of Richard Jr. (son of the Richard of the Crowne Malaga) while Mike and I have been looking at patent records for those lands which seem to show this Thomas was the son of Francis.

I suspect that research from the 1930s is correct from Thomas on down, but that they incorrectly made the connection up to the Richard of the Crowne Malaga.

So, at the risk of repeating myself,  I suspect we do have different branches of Sansburys in Maryland originating from the late 1600s.  And I don't believe they all descended from the Richard of the Crowne Malaga. This group in Washington DC is probably an example of a different branch. Were these branches related? I don't know.
